Nature lovers should be making their plans to participate in a Kentucky State Park tradition – Eagle watch Weekend. The Park system will sponsor this wildlife-watching opportunity as the Bald Eagles gather around the major lakes of Western Kentucky looking for food supply.
The Park Tours allow you to observe and learn about these Birds of Prey. For over 40 years the Kentucky State Parks have offered Eagle Watch Weekends, a chance to view Eagles from land and water and learn about our national Symbol and other wildlife. These wonderful Tours are led by State Park Naturalist’s and Department of Fish & Wildlife Biologists.
Ticket prices for the Tours range from $25 to $50 a person. Most Tours last from two to three and a half hours. The weekend also includes an educational evening program about Birds of Prey.
Guests should bring warm clothes, rain gear and binoculars. These trips can take place under extreme weather conditions. The Resort offers lodge rooms, cottages, and a full service restaurant.
Registration is required for this Special Activity – Call Lake Barkley State Resort Park at (800) 325-1708 for details and complete fee information. You can also visit www.parks.ky.gov and click on the “Winter Adventure” tab.
